I start the first day of school by telling the students that they will be leaving the U.S. and not returning until the last day of the school year. They will be traveling through the Middle East, Asia and Europe for the entire year. Some of the ancient civilizations that will be visited are - Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, Greece, Rome and the Middle Ages. We will also spend some time on the Renaissance Age of Exploration and maybe the Industrial Revolution in Europe.
Within each of these units we focus on:
- How geography played an important part of their economics?
- What early inventions helped these civilizations to survive?
- What was life like in general for these early people?
