TAB, or Teaching for Artistic Behavior, is a style of choice-based art education that focuses on the students, their interests, and their ideas. Students are viewed as authentic artists, and groups of materials are made available and introduced to the students one by one. A TAB art classroom leads students to find their own creative voice through imaginative ideas, self-expression, and autonomy.

A combination of Arts in Education and PTO funds were used in order to bring the Adirondacks Kids book series to West Canada Valley. As part of the Reading Safari program every family was given a copy of the first book in the Adirondack Kids series. The author and illustrator, Gary and Carol VanRiper, spent the day with our elementary students. The pair made three presentations, focusing on the importance of reading in order to become a great writer.
